Copenhagen – Simple Raw

Copenhagen Simple Raw 1

Simple Raw is a hidden gem at the famous Gråbrødretorv, which is a square with charming yellow and red houses surrounding it. We strolled around here for a while before hitting it as it’s a half basement.

Climbing through a narrow stair you arrive inside: simple white walls, cozy hanging light, green plants above your head and comfortable chairs and seats. The environment is very clean, calm and relaxing.

The menu is presented in beautiful pictures, and in both Danish and English too, if I remember correctly. We ordered a warm burger with sweet potatoes chips. The burger is made of quinoa and mung bean, served with nice sauce, pickled cucumber pieces, onions and lettuce. The bun happens to be gluten-free, however, due to this reason, it felt a bit hard and crumbly, and easily fell apart when we were eating it. However we do loved how the burger tasted! And the smoky paprika mayonnaise tasted so amazing, and it matched quite well with the sweet potato chips.

Besides that we also ordered a Poke bowl. It has organic tofu, avocado slices, cucumber slices, alfalfa, mango, seaweed, red cabbage with a wedge of fresh lime, with cauliflower rice hidden under. The ginger chili sauce tasted so good with this one. I always feel refreshed eating salad for dinner, especially if I have been eating something greasy for the lunch. So if you haven’t managed to eat so healthily, you should definitely order one of those bowls, I promise you won’t be disappointed! Not to mention, the colors are so beautiful and enticing!

We would very much love to try some dessert, but we felt so full after we finished those two dishes. So perhaps next time.

In a word we love Simple Raw and would love to come back again soon. I like how they make it “high raw”, instead of being so fixated on the definition that everything has to be “raw”, (thus excluding tofu because it’s not “raw”). This is a more flexible and sound combination, reaping all the benefits of everything on the plate. I highly recommend that you make a stop here when you visit Copenhagen.
